„Hi,
After four years of music, many tours and two albums, we have some sad news to share: Following a difficult period and with careful consideration, Victoria has decided to leave the band. Despite efforts and adjustments on both sides, conflicts and disagreements persisted, which didn’t allow her to find the well-being and serenity she needed to continue. We were unable to work it out.
As for the remaining band members, we have decided not to go forward without Victoria and have put the project on hold until further notice. Cancelling upcoming shows seems like the most difficult yet most honest decision to take. We would be grateful if you could give us the space and time we need to come to terms with this situation.
We thank you for believing in us and we’ve enjoyed every minute spent with the audience, partners, labels and bookers.Despite this, we have decided to proceed with the release of „Pelle d’Oca“ next month. We will leave you with our album and hope you will enjoy it.
Sincerely ADA ODA“
Discovered on the Brussels scene at the end of 2021, Ada Oda delivers an up-tempo, binary rock that evokes the boldness of 1980s post-punk and the melodic charm of Italian pop. The project was initiated in 2020 by César Laloux (The Tellers, BRNS), who met Victoria Barracato on Tinder and, noticing the Italian nature of her name, suggested she sing his songs in Italian. Victoria accepted the challenge.
„Un Amore Debole“ the band’s first album (Nov. 2022, 62TV/PIAS), brings together ten pop songs built from deliberately sparse demos (drum machine, guitar, and melody). In this album, César describes, sometimes with a touch of irony, his vision of love and the people around him. His lyrics are first translated into Italian and then adapted by Victoria. The album made an impressive debut, and some tracks like „Un Amore Debole“ or „Niente da Offrire“ became little hits across Europe, especially in Italy!
On stage, the duo is joined by Clément Marion on bass (David Numwami, Judith Kiddo), Alex De Bueger (Gros Coeur), and Aurélien Gainetdinoff (Yolande Bashing) on guitar. The band has performed over 200 concerts in around twenty countries. With a reputation for delivering outstanding live performances, Ada Oda has played at major European festivals such as Rock en Seine, Best Kept Secret, Pukkelpop, MI AMI, ESNS, and even the prestigious SXSW in Austin in 2024, marking their first time outside Europe.
The group now returns with their second LP, set for release on February 21, 2025. The first single, titled „Sotto La Conchiglia“ (trans. „Under the Shell“), will be available on October 16 and a second preview entitled ‘Immobile’ on November 27th.
